The Chancellor of the Exchequer (or Robert) appears in Episode 7 of Season 1 where he meets with the Prime Minister and later reveals his intention to stand against the Prime Minister for the party leadership. The Prime Minister subsequently fires the Chancellor. Despite this, he makes his last appearance as Chancellor in the final episode of Season 3, as he demands that the Prime Minister keep to "the deal" that he resign so that the Chancellor can become Prime Minister. Upon hearing of this, the Prime Minister's aide, Sebastian Love, refuses to work for the new Prime Minister - pointing out that "he's all fat and Scottish" - before becoming hysterical.

Robert is comparable to Gordon Brown who is notably "fat and Scottish" and also made a similar deal with Prime Minister Tony Blair.
